New 3M Factory Servicing the UK’s Sign and Graphics industry

3M recently announced a new state of the art manufacturing facility housing a floorspace of 2800 sq meter’s in Hilden, Germany.

The £70m investment by 3M will provide help for growing demand of materials required by the Graphic and signage industry in the UK. Two new graphic film production lines have capacity to deliver five million square meters of film each year.

Built in 353 days, the facility is Hilden’s largest 3M plant in Europe and vastly reduces the shipping time to customers being serviced in the UK’s Sign and Graphics industry.

3M – Helping Reduce the Sign and Graphics Industry Carbon Footprint

Adopting LEAN initiatives and engaging Six Sigma systems allows the plant to achieve optimum efficiencies and deliver productivity targets with a focus on clean energy, helping the facility to reduce its carbon footprint by 50%.

Silvia Perez (3m Commercial Solutions Division) stated – “This investment further demonstrates our commitment to leadership in the Commercial Solutions world and boosts our capacity across key markets like the UK”. She went on to add “We are proud that this high-investment, next-generation site with global reach has been established in Europe and we are excited that this is just the first step of a longer-term investment plan”

Sign and Graphics Industry Materials

3M manufacture a range of graphic film, flexible substances and inks used within the Sign and Graphics Industry. In addition, the company also provides training programs for installers of all skill sets.
