Contract Works

Contractors all risks insurance/contract works…

What?

Ok let’s explain, for most in the sign industry you either manufacture the product or buy the product in. Whilst in your premises you have cover… that’s called stock.
When you leave your premises that “stock” isn’t insured any more so there needs to be other covers in place…

So, if you are taking goods to site or delivering to a customer, chances are that Goods in Transit Insurance is part of your insurance policy, if not it should be.
So contract works/contractors all risks, for most you probably arrive on site, erect it and back to base. Great if it’s only a single sign, but let’s take a look at the bigger picture. The contract you are on is going to take days or weeks rather than hours, whilst your new signage to be erected may be stored in a container or an area on site it may be at risk.

Like magpies certain individuals may have spotted your shiny aluminium and stainless, and these need not be general public, there could be other contractors on site!!! Leaving your goods on site could be a risk.

Although you may have fitted much of the signage, it’s still at risk, but not just for theft. Should any other type of loss occur at the premises the chances are that until handed over (as such) then you are going to have to replace the signage yourself – read your contracts, you will probably find that you are still responsible until your contract has ended.

Hopefully this is a little clearer, should you have this cover, of course the answer is always yes but that depends on the type of work you do, putting a single sign up may present little risk.

The technical bit
This section covers you against loss or damage to the works itself (the job you are working on) for new work that you have done, or for materials at the contract site for which you are responsible.

Although we will cover this off in a separate section, you can add your own plant and hired in if required.

Hiring in plant – cherry pickers, scissor lifts, have your own goods on site, speak to us, we can advise the best way to insure these.
